On les a suivis \u00e0 la trace, \u00e0 l&rsquo;automne 2017, de la vall\u00e9e de l\u2019Aconcagua, au nord de Santiago, \u00e0 la r\u00e9gion d\u2019Itata et \u00e0 Bio-Bio, nouvelle coqueluche de la critique internationale, mais qui avait d\u00e9j\u00e0 attir\u00e9 les \u00e9migrants il y a un si\u00e8cle.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Pierre Thomas, texte et photos<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A 100 km de l\u2019atterrissage, dans l\u2019axe de la piste de l\u2019a\u00e9roport de Santiago, l\u2019avion survole la vall\u00e9e de l\u2019Aconcagua. Grande productrice de fruits, arros\u00e9e par un syst\u00e8me de canaux qui rappelle les bisses du Valais, cette cuvette qui a pris le nom du plus spectaculaire sommet des Andes, est aussi propice \u00e0 la vigne. Elle est travers\u00e9e par les camions \u00e0 containers qui, du port de Valparaiso, exp\u00e9dient en Chine les vins\u2026 argentins de la r\u00e9gion de Mendoza, de l\u2019autre c\u00f4t\u00e9 de la cordill\u00e8re, franchie \u00e0 tombeau ouvert par un col.<\/p>\n<p><strong>La nouvelle vie d\u2019un Tessinois<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>C\u2019est dans cette vall\u00e9e de l\u2019Aconcagua que <strong>Mauro von Siebenthal<\/strong> s\u2019est \u00e9tabli, il y a vingt ans. Ag\u00e9 de 60 ans, cet ex-avocat tessinois qui a \u00e9tudi\u00e9 le droit \u00e0 Gen\u00e8ve, a refait sa vie au Chili. En octobre dernier, on l\u2019a rencontr\u00e9 quelques jours avant un voyage en Chine et \u00e0 Taiwan, de nouveaux march\u00e9s. En Suisse, ses vins sont propos\u00e9s par le vigneron de Losone (TI), <strong>Angelo Delea<\/strong>, <em>\u00abun ami de toujours\u00bb<\/em>. Puissants, tr\u00e8s extraits, bois\u00e9s, ses rouges, aptes au vieillissement, \u00e9labor\u00e9s avec l\u2019\u0153nologue <strong>Stefano Gandolini<\/strong>, obtiennent souvent des hauts pointages de la critique internationale. Ils ne font pourtant pas l\u2019unanimit\u00e9\u00a0: le journaliste chilien <strong>Eduardo Brethauer<\/strong>, qui publie un original guide annuel, <em>\u00abVinos con Cuento\u00bb<\/em>, leur pr\u00e9f\u00e8re les vins d\u2019un autre Suisse, <strong>Jean-Michel Novelle<\/strong>. Le talentueux Genevois est rest\u00e9 l\u2019\u00ab\u0153nologue volant\u00bb de la famille <strong>Garc\u00e8s-Silva<\/strong>. Il est aussi le plus grand acteur en volume d\u2019un mouvement qu\u2019il a initi\u00e9 en 2009, le MOVI, contre-point des grandes caves exportatrices de l\u2019industrie du vin chilienne. Au d\u00e9part, ils \u00e9taient douze, aujourd\u2019hui, ils sont trois fois plus. Derni\u00e8re r\u00e9gion qui a le vent en poupe, Itata, au sud-ouest de la ville de Conception. C\u2019est un peu plus bas, \u00e0 l\u2019embouchure du rio Bio-Bio, que d\u00e9barqua le premier conquistador espagnol, Pedro de Valdivia, en 1536, avant de s\u2019en aller fonder Santiago. Et c\u2019est aussi \u00e0 cette p\u00e9riode qu\u2019on fait remonter l\u2019arriv\u00e9e de la vigne au Chili. Les J\u00e9suites y cultiv\u00e8rent de nombreux c\u00e9pages. Puis, lors de l\u2019\u00e9migration des Europ\u00e9ens, trois, puis quatre si\u00e8cles plus tard, c\u2019est l\u00e0 aussi qu\u2019ils d\u00e9barqu\u00e8rent.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Les pionniers suisses de Bio-Bio<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Parmi eux, des Suisses, actifs dans la viticulture et le commerce du vin. Comme la famille Gruebler. Et un excellent restaurant\u2026 italien, tenu depuis quelques mois par un jeune couple des Dolomites, permet d\u2019y faire d\u2019excellents repas, arros\u00e9s des vins du cru.
